PILATES OVERVIEW (puh-LA-teez)
Developed by Joseph Pilates in 1926, Pilates is a unique system of exercises that borrows and blends traditional exercises from dance, yoga, and eastern methods with contemporary wisdom and science about posture, alignment and strength. Pilates is designed to teach practitioners to use the body efficiently in order to achieve a higher level of overall wellness. The aim is greater flexibility, strength, muscular balance with an emphasis on core strength and stability. Pilates is full-body conditioning program that can produce profound results and can be adapted to any age or fitness level. It is gentle enough for rehabilitation, yet challenging enough for the strongest of athletes.
Centered Body Pilates is an integrated holistic approach to fitness that focuses on muscular balance, symmetry, total body conditioning, and a strong, stable core.
